Banana Nut Bread
July 20, 2010
One of my favorite things to make is banana bread because its easy and it fills the house with an amazing smell. I have tried out a lot of different variations in the basic recipe and finally found the one I plan on sticking with. It seems that there really is no way you can mess it up (unless you do something like confuse salt for sugar). It comes out perfect every time. We always eat it right away when its warm because… I live with two brothers and everything I make is eaten up right away.
Banana Nut Bread ( from Simply Recipes):
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup of melted butter
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of walnuts
The recipe says that all you need is a wooden spoon and a bowl and thats exactly how I did it. It is so nice not to have to wash so many bowls and whisks… etc.
Preheat oven to 350°
In a large bowl mix the melted butter with the mashed bananas. Then add the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Mix in the baking soda and salt. Mix in the flour. And finally mix in the nuts. Pour the mixture into a greased loaf pan and bake for an hour exactly.
Cool it before you serve or eat it right away… like we do.
